Ultimately, I was satisfied.
It was an emotional night for LOST fans, having to say goodbye to the 6-year long weekly series. Given the starts, stops, and episodic confusion of this last season, emotions were also on edge in anticipation (or dread) of how the writers would handle long-standing questions and how they would resolve both old and new conflicts.
I have to say, ultimately, I was satisfied.
I love this quote from Robert Bianco, USA Today:
Some viewers won’t be satisfied until the producers churn out a multi-volume island manual that answers questions that were never actually posed.
The finale spanning 2 1/2 hours was brilliant on the part of the writers, producers, network, or whomever was responsible. An hour-long episode often left a gloomy feeling; it just wasn’t enough even when the episode was crappy. Sunday night’s extra-long finale eased the pain of die-hard fans and gave us more time to allow “this is it!” to sink in.
I feel better now that it’s over. I’m not really disappointed that all the unanswered questions weren’t answered. It’s okay to leave some concepts, actions, and events to speculation and the imagination.
I heard someone say something along the lines of
LOST was like reading a good book. You enjoy it while reading it and when you close the cover, you say ‘That was a good book!’
Nobody really looks forward to a good thing ending. But I sure enjoyed it while it lasted.
Hats off to all the actors, writers, producers, assistants, casting agents, venues, camera people, water boys, coffee girls, the ABC network, advertisers . . . everyone who had anything to do with bringing such a great show to our television screens.
