Want to know more about me?
I’m Vernessa Taylor . . . entrepreneurial minded, and happy to both share and learn.
I believe love is a force, prosperity is more than money, and the pursuit of excellence yields abundant fruit.
Here, on this blog, I share my opinions, perambulations, journeys of various sorts, some loud rants . . . Sit down, have a cup of your favorite beverage (I like coffee!), and chat with me.
Things That Matter
Things that matter. A tag cloud of topics I’ll get around to writing about, which includes a few items I’ve already written about.
A few things about me
I’m getting real personal because I try hard not to get personal at all online. Change is good.

Occasionally write poetry.
Almost always misspell ocassionally.

Persistent, tenacious, determined . . .
Would rather have the answer.
Will find an answer.
Sometimes a people person.
Hardly ever a people pleaser.
Will go against the grain.
Linux user, computer tinkerer.
Night hawk, sleeps odd hours.
Like good customer service.

For Love of The Word
I love to read the written word. Paper-based or digitally delivered.
I’ve probably been subliminally participating in Helio’s 52 Books in 52 Weeks; at any reason, he’s inspired me to actually write the reviews of all the books I read, not just plan to write them.
Favorite authors include Michael Crichton, John Grisham, amongst others. What I’ve neglected in recent years are some of the tales written by African American authors, which I plan to rectify.
I also read books from Project Gutenberg, online as well as will download them and read them at the computer. And if that’s not enough digital reading, I’ve taken to picking up digital versions of books from Google, not only because they’re cheaper, but, well, because I don’t mind reading at the computer. The last one was Parliamentary Procedure!
Just Talkin’
I don’t think I talk too much but sometimes I have a lot to say . . .

Creatively Yours
Occasionally, I tinker with the piano and keyboard but you wouldn’t want to suffer through it!
Message music gets me going . . . (somebody else playing, somebody else singing)
Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. I like to do my own graphics, so that probably adds up to about 400. I’m a fan of Hiking Artist who freely shares his original illustrations; I’ve used many of them in articles on my small business blog.
Acted in a few plays Off-Broadway. No, I mean, waaaaay, way, way off Broadway! Even helped write a few. Somewhere I have a collection of unpublished poetry but greatly enjoy contributing a word in the Random Twitter Poetry game sponsored by Wanderer Thoughts.
On Entrepreneurism
Can I leave off without saying something about entrepreneurism? I think not!
Place your favorite statistics about entrepreneurs, small business, micro-business, women-owned enterprises, youthful start-ups, baby boomer business owners . . . [HERE]. Ok, good.
In the same way a phoenix is compelled to rise from the ashes, I am compelled to answer the calling of entrepreneurship emanating from deep within me. My answer to that call renders me a lifestyle entrepreneur, and satisfies my need to barter and negotiate, problem-solve, and work on behalf of like-minded small business owners.
People, Places, Things
Technology.
Focus.
Smart business.
Technology that moves you along in the direction of your goals, in an unobtrusive manner, with you at the center of its raison d’etre. I mainly use the WordPress blogging platform, formerly liked Joomla for content management (but not so much these days), and I’m trying out the Concrete5 CMS. I simply love Linux and the concept of open source software because getting your work done without killing your pocketbook — or hamstringing you because your wallet isn’t fat — is a desirable outcome.
Also on my list of favorites: People with a commitment to something bigger than themselves, with a healthy outlook, a smart approach, and awareness that they have a voice that matters. For those wonderful ones in my virtual world, you’ll know who they are because I link to them often.
What Else?
I’m sure this is more than you ever wanted to know about me. But if you’re here — at this point on this page — maybe you’re ready to engage in conversation.
